The CEO of UP Goes Global: Inside CM Yogi’s

Mission to Singapore and Japan

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has embarked on a high-stakes, four-day diplomatic and investment tour of Singapore and Japan. This marks a rare and significant foreign foray for the Chief Minister—his first major investment-led trip since 2017—with a singular focus: propelling Uttar Pradesh toward its ambitious $1 trillion economy goal.

From futuristic trains to dedicated "International Cities," here is everything you need to know about this landmark visit.

The "Global City" Masterplan: Japan & Singapore Cities

The most striking announcement of the tour is the proposal by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) to develop two massive, integrated industrial townships in Greater Noida, near the upcoming Jewar International Airport.

Japan City (Sector 5A): A 500-acre "mini-Japan" designed for precision engineering. It will follow an integrated model: 70% industrial, 12% residential, and 13% commercial, featuring Japanese-style housing and schools for expats.

Singapore City (Sector 7): Another 500-acre hub dedicated to the digital economy, focusing on FinTech, data centers, and smart logistics.

🇸🇬 Leg 1: Singapore – The Digital & Skill Hub (Feb 23–24)

The mission began in the "Lion City," where the CM acted as the state's chief salesperson, meeting with representatives from over 25 global firms.

Key Deals and MoUs:

Universal Success Group: Signed a massive ₹6,650 crore agreement to develop logistics parks and a hyperscale data center in Noida.

Tech & Data Giants: Discussions with Google and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres to anchor UP’s growing digital infrastructure.

Financial Powerhouses: Meetings with sovereign wealth funds like Temasek and GIC, along with DBS Bank, to secure long-term capital for UP’s infrastructure projects.

Skill Development: A visit to the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) to formalize a partnership for training UP’s youth to international vocational standards.

🇯🇵 Leg 2: Japan – Manufacturing & The 600 kmph Ride (Feb 25–26)

The second leg shifts focus to the "Land of the Rising Sun," emphasizing advanced manufacturing and world-class transport.

The Maglev Experience

A major highlight is the CM’s 100-km trial ride (50 km each way) on Japan’s SCMaglev (Magnetic Levitation) train.

The Tech: Using superconducting magnets to float above the tracks, these trains eliminate friction and can exceed speeds of 600 kmph.

The Vision: The CM is studying this for potential application in high-speed corridors connecting Noida to Jewar Airport or long-distance links like Delhi-Lucknow.

Industrial Ties

The CM is meeting with eight Japanese titans, including:

Suzuki & Kubota: For automobile and agricultural engineering investments.

Tokyo Electron & Toshiba: Focused on semiconductor fabrication and electronics manufacturing.

Kanadevia Corporation: Discussions on Green Hydrogen and sustainable energy.

🕉️ Cultural Diplomacy: Saffron in the Global Arena

CM Yogi is making headlines not just for his deals, but for his distinct presence. He is conducting the entire tour in his traditional saffron robes, a rare instance of a high-ranking Indian official maintaining their cultural identity during formal international investment roundtables.

Spiritual Ties: In Tokyo, the CM will visit a prominent Hanuman Temple in Ginza, reinforcing the civilizational bond between the two nations.

The Buddhist Circuit: He is pitching UP's spiritual landmarks—Ayodhya, Kashi, and Kushinagar—to Japanese travelers, aiming to position UP as the global heart of Buddhist tourism.

🌏 Why It Matters: "Brand UP" 2.0

By traveling to these global hubs, CM Yogi is rebranding Uttar Pradesh. He is showcasing a state that has moved beyond its past, offering policy stability, massive land banks, and a safe environment for the world's most sophisticated investors.

As he returns, the transformation of the Yamuna Expressway into a global industrial belt looks less like a dream and more like an impending reality.
